ADMISSION TO UNILORIN UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS IS MAINLY THROUGH TWO METHODS OF ADMISSION
1.Post UTME and
2. Direct Entry.
UNILORIN ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS THROUGH UTME;
For admission into the University of Ilorin , UTME candidates must meet the following requirements:
1. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
2. Candidates must obtain a minimum of 5 'C (credits)' in their O'level results which should include English, Mathematics, and three other academic subjects.
For example; Applicants who wish to study law must have a 'C' in English, Mathematics, Public Administration/History, Economics, and Literature.
3. Candidates must score a minimum of 180 on JAMB UTME.
4. Candidates must take the UIL examination after the UTME screening and pass the examination with a good score (depending on the course of study).
5. More than two results are accepted for admission into the University of Ilorin (UIL).
6. Candidates must select the appropriate subject combination for their course.
7. Finally, applicants must meet the cut-off values set for their course to be admitted to the university.
DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants seeking admission into the University of Ilorin (UIL) through direct entry must meet the following requirements:
1. Candidates must complete a minimum of 5 credits in their O' Level results. This should include English and Maths. However, two results are not allowed.
2. Applicants must also be 16 years of age or older.
3. Candidates must apply by obtaining the JAMB Direct Entry form from JAMB.
4. Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A Level, BSc, HND, or ICAN.
P.H.D, MASTERS AND DOCTORATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. P.H.D COURSE
This May be used by MA holders. M.Ed.; Master; master's degree; LL.M.; M.Comm.H.; and an MPH degree with a cumulative average of at least 60% or a Master's degree. The Ph.D.D. program lasts a minimum of 36 months and a maximum of 48 months for full-time candidates and a minimum of 48 months and a maximum of 60 months for part-time candidates. Designated research and thesis are required at the end of the Ph.D.D. program. schedule.
2. M.PHIL/PH.D. DEGREE PROGRAM
Candidates with a score between 55.00 and 59.99% can apply to the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil/Ph.D.) program. M.Phil/Ph.D. The degree is available to full-time applicants only. It lasts a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months and is prepared following the thesis research work. Candidates in this category are eligible for a Ph.D. Candidates after submitting a progress report drawn up by the Jury at the end of the first registration session. To be considered for a Ph.D. Program candidates are expected to achieve a minimum score of 60% (total score) by the end of the first session.
3. POSTGRADUATE COURSE
M.A.; M.Ed.; M.Eng.; M.Sc.; M.Com.H., LL.M and M.P.H. d. The degree is valid for a minimum of 24 months and a maximum of 36 months for full-time applicants and 36 months and a maximum of 48 months for part-time applicants. All postgraduate programs are by-course works. This will be added to the research report and there will be a thesis at the end.
4. PG DIPLOMA PROGRAM
Postgraduate degrees are offered to candidates with three (honours) degrees or less. Applicants should note that the program ends automatically after the maximum period of each program has passed. However, applicants can initially apply for an extension of up to 12 months, with a maximum of two extensions.
5. GENERAL INFORMATION
For master's and postgraduate degrees, the graduate session lasts 12 months, starting on 2 October and ending on 30 September of the following year, with the M.Phil. / Doctoral and Ph.D.D. programs consisting of 12 months, the session will start automatically counting the first admission date.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM
1. Candidates for a master's degree in computer science are:
At least a first-class degree from an accredited university in the sciences, engineering, social sciences, or humanities. HND in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited university with minimum credit; and
(ii) It is recommended that the HND is obtained in a subject other than the discipline in which the minimum credit was obtained from an accredited polytechnic institution or equivalent with at least one year of relevant experience.
2. Applicants for the Post Graduate Diploma in Statistics must meet one of the following:
(i) at least an honorary doctorate from an accredited university in one of the fields of science and social sciences;
(ii) Statistical HND from a recognized university as minimum credit.
3. Applicants for postgraduate programs at the University of Ilorin and other accredited universities must have at least a second-level honors degree (subdivision) and apply to a first-level degree program. However, applicants with an honors degree of level 2 (subdivision) and higher degrees and who wish to enter a program other than a level 1 honor degree may be admitted if they meet the Senate at the qualifying examination. The minimum degree for all applicants to the academic program is a Level 2 Honors Degree (Subdivision). Regardless of the institution from which they obtained their undergraduate degree, all applicants must apply before the deadline to submit their official undergraduate degree to the Head of the Department of Diversity Programs (HOD) at the University of Illorin, Nigeria.
4. Candidates for the Ph.D. degree program shall have gotten a degree program from this university or another accredited university with a relevant master's degree, with a weighted average of 60% or more of doctoral candidates. Successful final applicants must pass the Graduate School qualifying interview and assessment by the relevant department. Applicants are therefore advised to contact the department to which they have applied to arrange a date for their doctoral interview. education. All applicants, regardless of the institution from which the Master's degree was obtained, must apply in advance for the official transcript of the Master's degree to be delivered to the Head of Department (HOD) at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. 5. All honors applicants who attended a foreign university where English is not the language of instruction must demonstrate to a graduate school English language proficiency, such as a TOEFL or IELTS score.
6. Postgraduate and Master's degree applicants, regardless of their degree, will receive a written assessment (qualifying exam).
7. International candidates (non-Nigerian residents and non-Nigerian and non-Nigerian applicants) are exempted from the qualifying examination. However, international applicants applying to the Doctor of Philosophy program abroad must submit a proposal of no more than five pages outlining the research they intend to undertake.
