Conditions For Eligibility.
1. Have reached the age of 18 by February 1st of the scholarship year;.
2. Be a resident of and apply for the scholarship from one of the participating nations (listed on the Australia Awards website) in which they were born.
3. Not hold Australian citizenship or a permanent visa to reside there;.
4. Not be married to, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who holds, or is eligible to hold, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency, at any time during the application, selection or mobilization phases (note: residents of Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau with New Zealand citizenship are eligible but must apply for a Student visa [subclass 500]);.
5. Not be a member of the military right now;.
6. Not have previously received a long-term Australia Award unless they have resided outside of Australia for twice the length of the total time that they were in Australia (for example, a previous awardee who has been on an Australia Awards Scholarship in Australia for four years will not be eligible to apply for another Australia Awards Scholarship until they have resided outside Australia for eight years);.
7. Have met any prerequisites set forth by the Program Area or the government of the applicant's country of citizenship (e. g. having spent a certain number of years working in a relevant industry);.
8. Be able to meet the institution's admission requirements. Program Areas may be required to withdraw an award offer if the recipient is unable to meet the institution's admission requirements. It's possible that this won't be known until Program Areas ask to be placed at particular institutions);.
9. Be able to meet all requirements set forth by the Department of Home Affairs in order to maintain a student visa. In the event that the recipient is unable to obtain a visa, the Program Area may be forced to withdraw an award offer.
10. Not applying for a scholarship for a program of study at a level of academic achievement lower than what they already possess (for example, applying for a Master's scholarship when they already hold a Ph. D.
In order for the application to be handled properly and openly, applicants must disclose to the Program Area any connections or relationships they may have with employees of the Program Areas (including locally engaged staff at the post) or with managing contractors.
